The mission of the Museum of Sketches, founded in 1934, is to archive
the creative process — the path of the artist from first idea to finished
work. The focus is on public art, where commissioning, production, and
installation require the artist to produce abundant preparatory material.
There are more than 25,000 images and objects in the Museum’s Permanent
Collection.
